What can we be addicted to?
Eventually nearly everything: foods, drinks, medicines, activities.
What are the signs of addiction?
- you think about it frequently
- you fear that you could not live without it
- it prevents you from doing other things
- it impacts your social life, your finances, or/and your relationships
Why is it a problem?
Addiction steals your freedom. It is like a chain that is holding you from discovering new activities, meeting people, using your money wisely, traveling.
How to get rid of if?
1/ The very first step is to acknowledge that you have an addiction. It requires a lot of courage and self-honesty.
2/ Then it might be a good idea to gather information from advised people: health professional, reliable friend/family member, religious person, teacher, counselor, organisation, coach.
3/ Keep yourself busy with different activities: area of interest you had and never took a chance to do, read new books, try sport and so on.
4/ Get rid of it for some time and see, feel your reactions. If you feel very uncomfortable, it is time to seek for help.
